島嶼研究網絡（香港）喜獲衛奕信勳爵文物信託撥款，將於二〇二三年九月至二〇二五十月進行一項為期26個月的研究及分享的社區歷史及文化計劃——「香港沿海社區研究——以馬灣為例」。

自1990年代初新機場計劃啟動以來，馬灣的地理和人文景觀逐漸發生巨大變革。本計劃探討馬灣這個沿海社區的特色，島研將會爬梳歷史檔案、舊記錄、老照片，及與島上居民進行口述歷史訪問，了解島上的島嶼景觀、社區聚落、生活文化和水陸社群之間的互動和演變，並且探究馬灣與其他島嶼和市區的連繫模式，讓我們從水路重新了解香港這個城市的島嶼本色。

With the support of Lord Wilson Heritage Trust, ISNHK will launch a 26-month research and promoting project on community history and culture— A study of a coastal community in Hong Kong – Ma Wan.

Due to the launch of the new airport project in the 1990s, a huge transformation was gradually made in Ma Wan’s geographical and cultural landscape. This study will look into the features of Ma Wan as a coastal community by studying archival materials, old records, and photographs, as well as interviewing local residents as oral history recordings. Engaging the perspective of the waterway, the changing patterns and interaction between landscapes, settlements, livelihoods and groups of inhabitants of the villagers and people on the water will help in understanding and revealing the connectivity among urban and islands to hence the other faces of Hong Kong regarding as an island.
